My high school classmate, Binky, asked me to make this rosary for her to give to a friend as a gift. The recipient is a coach for the UWGB women's basketball team and she wanted to use bead colors that match the school colors. So, we tossed around some ideas and she found these 8mm natural malachite beads; their deep green color with a subtle swirl made them perfect for the Hail Mary beads. The Our Father beads are 8mm white howlite. The recipient is fond of St. Padre Pio so we included an appropriate charm. The base metal crucifix has some pretty ornate features. The centerpiece is the Miraculous Medal, which has the inscription on the front, "REGINA SINE LABE ORIGINALI CONCEPTA OPN." With "OPN" being an abbreviation for "Ora Pro Nobis", the entire phrase is Latin for, "Queen Without Original Sin, Pray for Us."
