I saw these mahogany wood beads and had to have them, not yet really knowing how I'd use them. Once they arrived, I paired them with some pearl smooth burgundy beads that I've had for years (also used in rosary #2) and voila. I love how well these wood beads match up with burgundy, a combination I've used before. The centerpiece is an image of Mary with "Our Lady of Guadalupe" inscribed on the back. The crucifix is a simple design juxtaposed on top of a St. Benedict medal. On the front is inscribed "SMQLIVB" which stands for "Sunt Mala Quae Libas, Ipse Venena Bibas" (Evil are the things thou proferrest, drink thou thy own poison) and "VRSNSMV" which stands for "Vade Retro Satana, Nonquam Suade Mihi Vana" (Begone Satan, do not suggest to me thy vanities). The back has the inscription "EIVS IN OBITV NRO PRAESENTIA MVNIAMVR" (May we, at our death, be fortified by His presence).
